Abstract
Objective To understand the enrollment and course setting of master of nursing specialist in China. Methods A questionnaire survey was used to investigate the enrollment and course setting of master of nursing specialist in 75 colleges from 2017 to 2019. Results In 2019, 57(76%)colleges had more than 10 students enrolled. The total credits of core courses in 20(27%) colleges met the requirements of “Guide of training program for master of nursing specialist(trial implementation)”, of which only one in western region. The core curriculum content of 44(59%) colleges met the requirements of the program, and 1(1%) college did not offer six core courses. The total number of teachers in 44(59%)colleges and universities met the “Basic conditions for granting master’s degree in nursing”;the proportion of teachers with master’s degree or above in 65(87%) colleges met the basic conditions;the proportion of teachers with the title of deputy senior or above in 69(92%) colleges met the basic conditions. Conclusion The postgraduate education of master of nursing specialist in China is developing rapidly, and the number of student enrollment is increasing year by year. However, the faculty and core curriculum system need to be gradually improved, so as to lay the foundation for training clinical nursing professionals in the future.
