Abstract

While much has been canvassed on what makes something aesthetically pleasing and attractive to tourists, as well as the role of art in tourism and the hospitality industry, there is a lack of examination of the process of tourism artification. This research note illustrates how artification would work step-by-step in a tourism context, in which the intrinsic value of art is transfigured into the extrinsic value of a tourism product. Ten elements involved in tourism artification are proposed.
