Abstract

Farm film has caused serious pollution problems in China, which can be solved by improving the farm film utilization efficiency (FFUE). This study employs the biennial weight modified Russell model to investigate the FFUE in China during 2001-2015 and furthermore examines its spatial-temporal characteristics. The main findings are as follows. Firstly, the eastern region had the highest FFUE, followed by the western region, and the central region had the lowest FFUE during 2001-2015. Secondly, FFUE in the eastern region remained unchanged. The FFUE in the central region increased slowly, while the FFUE in the western region slowly declined. Thirdly, the provinces with good FFUE included Shanghai, Hainan, Tibet, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Fujian, and Ningxia.
