Construction of Polar Codes in OFDM System Using Genetic Algorithm

Abstract

In this paper, a polar code construction method for OFDM system using genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed. We investigate the performance of the proposed GA-based polar code construction method and the Gaussian-equivalent approximation construction method in OFDM system. Simulations show that the GA-based construction outperforms the Gaussian-equivalent approximation construction in all results. We also investigate the performance of the learned GA-based construction when there is a mismatch in the channel profile. It is shown that the GA-based construction yields robust performance even the channel profile is changed.
