Abstract

The operation model of Macao’s cultural and tourism industries is unique and holds significant research value. In recent years, Macao has actively promoted industrial diversification and economic transformation, with one key approach being the integration of cultural and tourism industries. This study, based on a coupling coordination mechanism, establishes an evaluation system for cultural and tourism industry indicators to explore the integration and development status of these two industries. The research results show that the coordination level of Macao’s cultural and tourism industries has reached a medium-to-high level, with the tourism industry consistently outperforming the cultural industry. Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused an economic downturn in Macao, strategic collaborations with hotels and resorts have facilitated the recovery of cultural and tourism industry integration. Furthermore, the study analyzes the crucial roles of the cultural and creative industries, as well as the hotel and convention industries, in strengthening the integration of cultural and tourism industries, offering insights for sustainable industrial transformation.
