Abstract
Macroscopic adjustment and review of the gaming industry are crucial for the Macao economy. Good monitoring and control from the government can help the gaming industry grow in a positive and healthy way. This project illustrates the potential of sentiment analysis on Sina Weibo tweets for the purpose of better monitoring and assessing the performance of different casinos. The result is targeted at evaluating and analyzing the overall satisfaction of tourists towards the gaming industry in Macao. A sentiment analysis algorithm is designed to exploit the characteristics of the tweets in the popular Chinese language social media. Tweets are classified into three groups, which are positive, negative and neutral sentiments. The overall customer satisfaction is then analyzed by the places that the tweets were posted, by different casinos mentioned, and by different periods of time.
