Genetic-Algorithm-Based Polar Code Construction for OFDM Systems with Imperfect Channel Estimation

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the effectiveness of Genetic Algorithm (GA) in polar code construction for orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplex (OFDM) systems with imperfect channel estimation. As an extension of our previous work in which perfect channel estimation were assumed, we propose to use the GA to construct polar codes taking into consideration the error of least squares (LS) channel estimation. Our results indicate that the GA-based construction considering LS channel estimation error outperforms the GA-based construction assuming perfect channel estimation. Furthermore, it is found that the proposed GA-based method is robust to changes in the quality of error estimation.
