Abstract
Tourism route planning is an indispensable but time-consuming task before departure. Tourists need to study the places to visit, arrange the length of stay and determine the order of visits. In recent years, many intelligent route planning tools have been developed to extricate tourists from this tedious process. However, automatic route planning for tourism is still challenging, especially when it takes into account the preference of tourists and practical constraints (such as the operation time window of attractions). In this paper, we developed a multi-objective itinerary planning method based on a genetic algorithm to schedule traveling routes for multi-day trips and successfully applied the proposed method in Macau.
