abstract = "The emerging Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard adopts two estimators to particle the probability, which is flexible and efficient. However, it causes enormous computational complexity. In this work, a fast adaptive rate selection algorithm in the CABAC of VTM is proposed. First, based on the size of the coding block, a bit scan instruction algorithm is proposed to initialize the adaptation rate. In addition, a bitwise operation based on the coding bits of CU is presented to reduce computational performance. The experimental results show that the fast method we proposed can reduces the computational complexity of the current VTM to about 99.0% of the coding time of the video reference condition test.",
