摘要
This article aims to look into the macro and micro cultural dimensions from the perspective of “Translanguaging Space”, based on the artistic installation, “Square Word Calligraphy Classroom”, that refers to the creative visual writing, “Square Word Calligraphy”, invented by Chinese artist Xu Bing (1996). Using a descriptive and interpretive methodology, we collected personal comments and artistic pieces recreated by three participants who have experienced in the contextualized exhibition, “The Language and Art of Xubing” in Macau. We analyzed how the ideology of “translanguaging” influenced the individual’s locus of psychology and how an interculturality was established in the literary, artistic and visual intersection of Chinese characters and alphabetic letters. We concluded that the concept of “translanguaging space” reconstructs our view towards language, in macroculture, it dynamically creates a vehicle for universal understanding, at the micro level of culture, it stimulates underlying pedagogical possibility through individual creativity and criticality.
